To boldly go ... that is my motto - but not necessarily to go where no-one has gone before - but to go where I have not! Obviously, I should go because I am qualified - as an astrophysicist, as a former ESA astronaut applicant (good evaluation in the Danish applications round), as a space travel nerd, and as a sci-fi fan :o) BUT the primary reason is to make my son proud and to inspire him and kids like him to go further! To my two-year old Silas, who is adopted from Vietnam, "doing like dad" is probably one small step - but its a giant leap showing him that anything is possible! And Silas is on his way; he knows the planets, the names of many moons and have a healthy interest in rocket science e.g. from watching youtube ... What a thrill it would be for him and I to watch his father launch into space together - then he would surely know that he could take it even further, should he wish so ;-) P.S. born1971, physically and (relatively) mentally fit, have a PhD in physics and astronomy
