Entries must be submitted online between March 5th 2012 and April 5th 2012 via www.metroinspace.com/ca.

Visitors to the website www.metroinspace.com/ca will vote for applicants using the VOTE button. More votes can be gained by sharing or “liking” the application on Facebook and other social media.

The entries that receive the most votes in each Metro country will be judged by a local jury, which will select one local winner. Each Metro country will send one local winner to the global final.

The global finalists will be judged by the Global Jury. This is a professional jury consisting of Maggie Samways (Global Editor-in-Chief, Metro International) and Representatives from SXC.

The criteria for a winning entry includes: (1) genuine interest and enthusiasm for going into space; (2) interesting personality; and (3) physical and psychological fitness.

The local finalist will be notified by e-mail on April 9th, 2012.

The local finalists will be announced in Metro on April 12th, 2012.

The Grand Prize Winner will be notified by e-mail by April 27th, 2012.

Metro reserves the right to disqualify the winner in the event that he/she doesn’t respond to e-mail notification within 48 hours, or he/she doesn’t sign a legal release and/or a confidentiality agreement.

Any attempt to tamper with the entry process, interfere with these Rules, deliberately damage any website or undermine the administration, security or legitimate operation of the Contest, is a violation of criminal and civil laws and the Sponsors reserve the right to seek damages and/or other relief from all persons responsible for such acts to the fullest extent permitted by law and ban or disqualify such persons from this and future contests.

Entrants must be 18 years or older at the time of the space trip (probably early 2014).

The competition is open to anyone other than employees, agents, contractors and consultants, or their families, of Metro International and its affiliates.

Winners may be requested to take part in promotional activity. Metro reserves the right to publish the names of the global winner/local finalist(s) and their photos, as well as other relevant information.

Metro reserves the right to modify, at any time, the conditions of the present enclosed competition, including cancellation before the closing date, provided that there is a valid reason to do so, and promises to communicate with sufficient notice the new basis or conditions, or the definitive cancellation. Metro is not responsible for the possible technical, telephonic or computer failures that may occur during the course of the competition or any another attributable circumstance that could affect the development of and participation in the present promotion.

Metro’s responsibility is limited insofar as it is the media co-organizer of the competition. Metro will not be held responsible for problems in delivering the prize that are caused by our partners or by events outside of Metro’s control.

All decisions of the Contest judge and/or Sponsors are final. In the event of any dispute regarding the interpretation of these Rules or any decision rendered by the Contest judge and/or Sponsors, the decision of the Contest judge and/or Sponsors shall prevail. The Contest is subject to all applicable Canadian federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations. The Sponsors reserve the right to cancel or modify the Contest or the Rules at any time without notice. All prizes must be accepted as awarded, are non-transferable and are not convertible to cash. The Sponsors reserve the right to substitute any prize or portion of any prize with a prize of equal or greater value. All prizes are awarded as-is and no warranties or guarantees are implied or expressed, beyond the standard manufacturer's warranty. The odds of winning depend on how many eligible entries are received.
